What We Do / Case Study

Water Street Station

The Challenge

An abandoned 19th century steam plant sat gathering dust on Water Street in downtown Toledo Ohio until entrepreneurs Dave Ball and Jim Jackson decided to renovate the vacant facility and turn it into a historic housing development along the Maumee River. Water Street Station, as the project was named, needed a place on the web to advertise its condominiums and rental units. The site had to accentuate the historic aspects of the building in addition to showing up-to-date pricing and availability information.

The Solution

Our web designers worked closely with the developers, architects, owners, and even local libraries to obtain historical information, photographs, and detailed schematics of the facility, both before and after development. Using AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), we implemented an easy-to-maintain system whereby prices and availability could be maintained centrally including an attractive interface that allowed prospective residents to see the price, location, and other information about all the units in the facility.

The Result

The visionaries behind this huge project in Toledo were pleased with the result. With an easily-maintained system whereby prices and availability could be easily and rapidly tuned to a changing marketplace, they were ready to sell the over 100 units in the historic facility.
