What We Do / Our ClientsThe Ecology CenterThe Ecology Center had hired another group to redesign their web site, but for some reason it just never seemed to get finished. When they turned to Mouko, it was up in no time. They were so pleased with their initial experience they hired us to update their HealthyCar.org site and then to build their brand new, and innovative HealthyToys.org site. Instantly lauded by the media as “easy to use” and “comprehensive,” the site received over a million page views the very first day it went live. The site continues to be an extremely valuable tool to educate parents about toxic chemicals in children’s toys. Key services rendered: PHP programming, graphic design, web development, database development (MySQL/InnoDB), data management (Java, Perl), Flash authoring, Flex programming, ActionScript programming. Jackson’s Lounge & GrillJackson’s Lounge and Grill needed an innovative way to show its customers the ways their space could be used, highlighting the restaurant’s many layouts, configurations, and classy touches. Mouko’s multimedia specialists created interactive QuickTime VR movies of the restaurant in a variety of configurations, accoutrements. Site visitors could twirl around in space as if they were actually standing in the room. Mouko also created the brand new company’s first web site, putting them on the Internet map. Key services rendered: Graphic design, web development, multimedia (Flash, QuickTime, QuickTime VR). The JAJ CompanyAs the parent company to several very diverse enterprises, the JAJ Company in Toledo needed to get their businesses on the Web. Mouko was hired to create a common gateway for all the JAJ companies and to showcase the companies’ accomplishments, certifications, and other information. We used a variety of technologies, including Flash, to create a stunning web presence that was, as the JAJ Company puts it, “on the cutting edge of distinction.” Key services rendered: Graphic design, web development, multimedia (Flash). MetalworksMetalworks, a privately-owned Michigan company specializing in custom jewelry designs, lacked a system to track its inventory, time spent creating jewelry, and resource consumption. Mouko created a database solution that fit Metalworks’ needs exactly, using the computing system with which its staff were most comfortable. We sat down face-to-face and went step-by-step with our client, explaining every detail of the system and making changes as necessary until our client felt at ease with the new system. Key services rendered: Database development (AppleWorks). Michigan Music Teachers AssociationThe Michigan Music Teachers Association (MMTA) had a web site, but they weren't happy with it yet. A company they had hired originally to create their site had gone AWOL and they were desperate to find a company that would be responsive, accessible, and which would give their site the very highest priority. Mouko stepped in and quickly completed a number of tasks the previous designers seemed unwilling or unable to do. We continue to develop new applications for MMTA, including integrating PayPal payment into an event registration process. We also perform database management and act as advisors on a number information technology issues of strategic importance to their organization. Key services rendered: PHP programming, graphic design, MySQL database development, shopping cart and PayPal integration, Google Docs integration, search engine optimization. The University of ToledoThe Division of Student Affairs at the University of Toledo was in need of serious web help. More than ten separate departments each had developed their own, piecemeal web sites, each according to its own unique needs. Mouko met with dozens of people at UT to gather information and understand each department’s requirements and expectations. We then created a new web site that shared a common look and feel, but that still allowed each department to have a distinctive personality. We worked closely with their dedicated IT staff to bring the site to life on what was, at the time, a highly unusual web server system. By the time the project was done, Mouko had converted more than 1,000 distinct pages to the new “look and feel.” Key services rendered: Graphic design, web development, CGI programming (Perl), custom JavaScript. Washtenaw Community CollegeWashtenaw Community College’s student-run newspaper, The Student Voice, needed a cost-effective, efficient way to turn its physical newspaper product into a digital version for the web. Software developers at Mouko created a custom solution allowing the Voice staff to provide us with QuarkXPress® documents which we, in turn, converted rapidly into web pages. This process allowed the journalists to write their articles in a medium in which they felt comfortable, without the need to hire additional, non-writing staff. The Student Voice won awards for having the best Community College newspaper web site. Key services rendered: Graphic design, web development, programming (Perl), data conversion (from QuarkXPress to HTML). Water Street StationWater Street Station needed a place on the web to advertise its condominiums and rental units. The site had to accentuate the historic aspects of the building in addition to showing up-to-date pricing and availability information. Our web designers worked closely with the developers, architects, owners, and even local libraries to obtain historical information, photographs, and detailed schematics of the facility, both before and after development. We implemented an easy-to-maintain system whereby prices and availability could be maintained centrally including an attractive interface that allowed prospective residents to see the price, location, and other information about all the units in the facility. Key services rendered: Graphic design, web development, converting blue prints into interactive maps (AJAX). |
